Featured in Bored Panda: Why Rebrands Succeed—or Spectacularly Fail

I'm excited to share that I was recently featured in Bored Panda's viral article, 27 Logo Redesigns That Backfired Spectacularly. In this expert feature, I had the opportunity to dive deep into why some rebrands succeed—and why others completely miss the mark.

In my contribution, I shared that a rebrand isn’t just about a fresh logo. It’s about clarity, connection, and strategy. When companies chase trends or change for the sake of change without truly knowing their customers, they risk confusing their audience, losing trust, and ultimately damaging their brand equity.

I explained:

  • A successful rebrand evolves authentically alongside the company’s mission, values, and positioning.

  • A failed rebrand happens when the changes feel disconnected, confusing, or inauthentic to the customers who already loved the brand.

  • Real-world examples like GAP’s redesign (which felt too corporate and unfamiliar) and Tropicana’s packaging overhaul (which made products unrecognizable on shelves) highlight what happens when strategy gets left behind.

In the article, I also shared key lessons brands should follow to avoid a rebranding disaster:

  • Start with strategy, not visuals.

  • Talk to your customers first.

  • Don’t change just for the sake of change.

  • Stay grounded in your brand’s core identity and values.

  • Bring your audience along for the journey to create buy-in and connection.

A strong rebrand deepens trust—it doesn’t confuse or alienate. In a crowded, fast-moving market, clarity is everything.
